Onion: Onion is the bulb of a plant of lily family and most commonly required in all dishes. Can be taken raw also. Most common variety are red and yellow. Buy onions which have bright color and are not soft.


Oregano: Oregano is an aromatic herb. It is available as fresh leaves or dried. It is used for seasoning various dishes. Fresh oregano leaves should be stored in freezer bags in refrigerator. Dried leaves can be stored for a long time. For using chop the leaves removing the stems.


Okra: Select bright green, firm okra without blemishes. To use with a knife trim the stems and the tips from the okra and then cut across into thin slices. To speed slicing bunch several okras together.

Onion Seeds: Onion seeds are used whole for flavoring pickles and curries. They are also used in savory snacks and Tandoori-baked bread - such as nan and Tandoori roti. In Bengal, Orissa and Assam onion seeds are used along with other whole spices to flavor dhal and fish curries.
