Yogurt: Yogurt (Curd) is made out of milk by coagulating milk with the help of a fermenting agent which is small quantity of yogurt or curd. It is made by adding about one teaspoon of yogurt to warm milk, stir the milk to mix thoroughly. Keep covered in a warm place and within about four hours fresh curd will be made.
Can be taken as it is or sweetened or with spices and some vegetables like tomato, carrot, cucumber etc. to make a raita. Also curd mixed in a blender with sugar, salt and lemon juice makes a very refreshable drink. |

Yellow Split Peas (Toor/Arahar Dal): These are matte, solid yellow lentils split into two round halves. They are easy to digest and have a pleasant, subtle nutty flavor. These lentils are rich in protein and easy to cook. Their cooking time is further reduced if the lentils are soaked for half an hour before use. Always add salt to the dal after it is cooked, or else the lentils will stay hard. |
